Includes information about the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Rural Health Education Network (RHEN) info table
Includes information about the Rural Health Education Network (RHEN) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Consumer Health Information Resource Service (CHIRS) booth
Find out from The McGoogan Library of Medicine staff at UNMC how Nebraska residents can find health information free of charge through CHIRS.

9 a.m.

Robotic Surgery Presentation
The future of surgery? Small robotic tools can be placed in the mouth, move down the esophagus and into the stomach, where a small incision is made to gain access to the inner body and assist with surgery. The robot then exits the body the same way it entered. Stitching the incision would be done laproscopically, leaving no visible scars. Come see some videos of the robots in action.

Healthcare and Emergency Responder Organization Education through Simulation (HEROES) program
Preparedness and disaster response using simulators and crowd participation. 

9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Kids on the Block puppet show
There will be one show every 45 minutes. All shows are 30 minutes long.

Donate Life Services and Transplant booth
Organs will be on display as will information about being an organ donor and Kidney and Liver transplants.

Poison Control booth
Pinky the Elephant will be there to hand out coloring books, brochures and telephone stickers.

Kearney Nursing Students booth
Includes blood pressure screenings for adults and interactive activities for children focusing on healthy foods and portion control.

Oh the places you can go: Health Careers. 
Four sessions in the morning and four in the afternoon. Presentations are one hour long. Include:

  1. Preparation Strategies for College - what can students do now in elementary school to prep for college
  2. "My Body" Activity - paper body puppets will be available for students to label with different bones and organs
  3. Medical Word Jeopardy - words include: basic, small medical terms, as well as bones and organs
  4. What's Available in the Exciting World of Health Careers - fun, activities regarding the different types of health careers, such as: a word search, discussion of different careers, organs, bones, etc.
9 a.m. - 7 p.m.

Cardiothoracic Surgery booth
Learn about heart conditions, failure and transplant. A heart model and ventricular assist vice demo will be on display.

10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Surgical Oncology booth
Information on lung, breast and GI cancers.

11 a.m.

Clinical Research Trial Recruitment
Come learn about how you can volunteer to be apart of a clinical trial ranging from arthritis to strokes.

UNMC Alumni will get treated to a presentation at 6pm with UNMC Cardiologist Dan Anderson, followed by a casual reception.
